Help Out The Kids Of Walking Shield

What we’re doing: The Los Angeles Pierce College, Pre Veterinary club is working
with Walking Shield to put together backpacks full of school supplies, warm clothes, and other essentials for kids in need on these reservations. Often these kids don’t have places they call home, or parents that can provide for them. With these backpacks we hope to help them, and encourage them to stay in school.
Right now we have 70 or so kids left over from our list of over 300 kids that our program and school faculty, staff, students, and student organizations have not adopted, and are trying to ensure we secure backpacks, supplies, warm clothes, toiletries, and essentials for. Many of us in this program, are students who cannot afford to shoulder any more burden which is why we are reaching out to friends and family, and anyone they think can help.
What we need: Backpacks, Supplies, toiletries, and clothes and clothing items. I have
attached our school checklist.
How you can help: We understand that often when requesting donations and
reaching out for help, sending money isn’t ideal- which is why we are asking
for donations of items. If you live in the San Fernando Valley area and would
like to drop stuff off in our on campus donation boxes- they’re in our ASO and
RVT buildings. If you don’t or can’t get to the campus to drop stuff off, but
would still like to help, our club Walking Shield committee will be more than
happy to:
1) accept donated items via amazon and other online order platforms,
2) pick up items ordered via site to store and online order at places like wal-mart and target (both have inexpensive and well made items available on sale now like http://www.walmart.com/ip/23117403 and http://www.walmart.com/ip/35813549 )
3) pick up items from folks local to committee members, many of us do live in the suburbs of Los Angeles no more than 20 minutes from our school.

Closest Wal-mart to the school would be: Porter Ranch, CA
Closest Target would be : Northridge, CA
